I was exhausted. I went into the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed. I stared ahead and it looked like the walls were breathing. I fell back, but was too tired to sleep. This was a horrible day.
The funny thing is, looking back at that weekend now, this would be the good day.
It was a dark and stormy night.
Actually, it was a beautiful sunny Monday afternoon when my brother, my sister, and myself dug a grave.
Initially, Amanda’s due date was July 7th (7/7) which ironically is her mom’s favorite number (7). Every day after the due date is filled with anticipation because we could be off to the hospital at any moment.
For the past two years, I have almost exclusively listened to True Crime Podcasts while driving in my car. When I find other people who are also interested in these podcasts, love to tell each other some of the stories we’ve heard. Some famous, some not-so-much.
My apologies to any bagpipe players out there, but it all ends up good in the end…
Normally, my stories about family vacations down in Belmar, New Jersey are lighthearted and usually involve a lot of drinking stories (on my part) or reliving memories.
This isn’t one of those stories.
Living in the Adirondack Mountains in New York state can be beautiful, but it is not without its perils. For the uniformed it can be downright dangerous.
